Samuel L. Jackson has become was of the most popular actors in Hollywood, with a unique style, recognisable voice and a catchphrase that can’t be mentioned before the watershed!

12. He fought for black rights in the 1960s

Jackson is a supporter of black rights, and in the late 60s was suspended from Morehouse College when he briefly tool several people hostage during a protest against the university for not having a black studies program or black trustees.

11. He had a major speech impediment as a youngster

When he was younger, Jackson suffered from a stutter. A speech therapist suggested auditioning for a play might help and it changed Jackson’s life as he changed his major and focused on acting.

10. He worked menial jobs for decades while he waited for a breakout role

When he was trying to get his big break as a struggling actor in New York, Jackson held several other jobs to make ends meet including being a doorman at Manhattan Plaza Subsidised Apartments.

9. He used to be Bill Cosby’s camera stand-in

When he was starting to take on smaller roles, Jackson was a camera stand-in for Bill Cosby on The Cosby Show, a star who would go on to extreme controversy.
